David C. Hulst established Hulst Research Farm Services (HRFS)
in 1983, near the town of Hughson, Stanislaus County, in the
Northern San Joaquin Valley of California, U.S.A. With David's
untimely passing on February 4, 2008, HRFS is now being led by
his son, Brandon Hulst who has been working closely with David
since 2001.
HRFS was founded on the principles that research is individually
designed for the client and product, and is conducted using
sound, unbiased research principles, with results promptly and
precisely reported. Quality on-site plots combined with a large
number of conscientious local growers guarantee the maintenance
of trial integrity.
HRFS operates two research farms: a 10 acre site at our
headquarters in Hughson and a 35 acre site in Hickman, CA,
which equips us to provide custom farming and custom
applications. HRFS also maintains a professional association with
six similar agricultural research businesses representing all
regions and areas of California Agriculture. HRFS has averaged
130 field trials annually with a record-high of 157 in 2008.
Research trials are managed by a professional staff with more
than 110 person years of experience. HRFS can also suggest
locations for larger scale demonstration trials.
HRFS focuses on five main agricultural areas: Product
registrations, GLP trials, efficacy trials, custom farming and custom
applications. In terms of registrations, in 2005, HRFS managed 43
efficacy trials for five separate products for three clients for CDPR
(California Department of Pesticide Registration) product
registrations.
